Langtang Gosaikunda Trek Itinerary Start and End Locations
The Langtang Gosaikunda trekking itinerary begins with a quick drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, the actual commencement point of the trek. From here, you follow a trail that goes through villages and ascends upstream of the Langtang River, along with the forests, to Bamboo.
After a few days in the pristine environment, the trail climbs up through the forests of bamboo, rhododendron, and oak to Lama Hotel. Then, leaving Lama Hotel, you follow a trail that leads us to Langtang village via Ghoda Tabela. At Ghoda Tabela, you can catch your first glimpse of Langtang Lirung, a prominent peak in the region.
Finally, the last uphill walk will take you to Langtang village, where more stunning views welcome you.
The settlement is a traditional village that treasures the ancient Tamang culture and the Tibetan Buddhist religion. There’s a yak cheese factory in the village that is trendy for pure yak cheese. Thus, you also get to explore the factory and taste the cheese. If you are further interested, you can also purchase the cheese and take it back home as a souvenir from Nepal’s Langtang region.
After a night at the village, you hike up to Kyanjin Ri, from where you can relish the magnificence of Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, and various other mountains in the Langtang range.
Proceeding with the Langtang Gosaikunda Lake Trek, we return to the Lama Hotel and head towards Thulo Syabru. Traversing through the lush forested area, we climb uphill to Thulo Syabru and ascend towards Sing Gompa. As we move ahead, a clear and close view of Ganesh Himal unfolds right before us.
Finally, making our way along the classic trail in Langtang Gosaikunda Trek, we open up to Gosaikunda Lake, a holy lake for Hindu pilgrims. The lake is located in a spectacular location against the backdrop of the beautiful Himalayas at an altitude of 4,380 meters (14,370 feet).
Most people believe that Gosaikunda was formed when Lord Shiva pierced the mountain with his trident to quench his thirst caused by swallowing poison.
We leave for Dhunche and head back to Kathmandu after enjoying our time around Gosaikunda Lake and taking a holy dip in it.
